On Monday, May 15, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. c.t., the next meeting of our Physics Colloquium will take place.
The speaker will be Prof. Dr. Tord Johansson (Uppsala Universitet) on the topic of Strange Partices.
Strange particles are particles containing strange quarks and exist in quark-antiquark and three-quark configurations. This talk will focus on the threequark systems and what can be learned from studying them in experiments. In particular, attention will be on how their decay properties can be used to get information on their internal structure as well as on the nonexistence of antimatter in the universe. Their relation to the inner core of heavy neutron stars will also be discussed.
Abstract of the presentation by Prof. Dr. Johansson.
The introduction will be made by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Wiedner.
The faculty cordially invites all interested parties. The event will take place in lecture hall HNB and hybrid via Zoom. Before the colloquium we offer coffee and cookies. This link will take you to the Zoom event (meetingID: 632 5520 9938, password: 526977). All dates of the Physics Colloquium can be found here.
