The Faculty of Physics and Astronomy cordially invites all physics enthusiasts to the last event in the "Saturday Morning Physics" series this spring! On 22 March 2025 at 11 a.m., the Pauluskirche in Bochum's city center will open its doors: Dr. Arne Ludwig will provide an exciting morning full of fascinating insights into the world of quantum physics:

  • Does light behave like waves or like particles?
  • What role do quantum mechanical phenomena play for semiconductors - materials that only conduct electricity under certain conditions and are therefore a perfect basis for many modern electronics?
  • How do you generate light from tiny semiconductor crystals, so-called quantum dots?

All interested parties are invited to join us as we immerse ourselves in the fascinating world of quanta.

When: March 22, 2025, 11:00 a.m.
Where? St. Paul's Church in the city center of Bochum, Grabenstraße 9

Admission is free. From 10:30, the student council will provide visitors with waffles and coffee.

Saturday Morning Physics takes place in cooperation with the Protestant parish of Bochum on four Saturdays in the winter semester 24/25 in the Pauluskirche. The event on March 22 will be the last one this spring before the series continues in the winter semester 2025/26.
