02.12.24 | Physics Colloquium, Event

On Monday, December 9, 2024, at 12:00 c.t., the next date of our physics colloquium will take place this winter semester.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Neukirch, Professor at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, gives a lecture entitled "(PHYSICAL) MEMORIES OF KARL SCHINDLER".

On December 28, 2023, Professor Karl Schindler, the first holder of the Chair of
Theoretical Physics IV at the Ruhr-Universität. Karl Schindler's even-tempered and calm
leadership style, his sense of humor and the ability not to take himself too seriously, combined with his
his passion for physics shaped the character of his working group and created an extraordinarily
human and productive working atmosphere. In this lecture in honor of
Karl Schindler, I would therefore not only like to commemorate his important scientific contributions to theoretical
to theoretical space plasma and astrophysics, but also from a personal perspective to his roles as a dedicated university
as a dedicated university lecturer, as an ever-interested supervisor of undergraduates and doctoral students, and as a
helpful mentor

Abstract of the lecture by Prof. Neukirch.
