The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has honored Professor Dr. Evgeny Epelbaum from the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy as an outstanding scientist under the President's International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI). The award recognizes his commitment and scientific contributions in the field of theoretical hadron and nuclear physics.
Every year, around 200 researchers are nominated by the institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for the "Distinguished Scientist" award, from which a committee of the President's International Fellowship Initiative selects around 30 researchers as award winners. Prof. Dr. Evgeny Epelbaum was also honored for his work.
As part of this award, Professor Epelbaum will embark on a two-week lecture tour of China from March 23 to visit the Institute of Theoretical Physics (ITP) at CAS in Beijing and the Institute of Modern Physics (IMP) at CAS in Lanzhou. The trip is not only a recognition of his work, but also serves to further strengthen the existing successful cooperation between his chair and Chinese researchers.
Professor Epelbaum and his chair have been working with Chinese researchers for a long time. Since 2016, the Chair has been involved in the German-Chinese Collaborative Research Center TRR 110 "Symmetries and Structure Formation in Quantum Chromodynamics". In addition, three young Chinese scientists are currently working in the Bochum research group.
